Six years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
At the time, I was married, had an adult child, and was working a soul-sucking, dead-end job that barely covered the cost of my treatments. I had a master’s degree in business. I was an Army veteran. And yet — in that moment — none of it mattered. One diagnosis could have been the end of my story.
The part that hit me the hardest?
I hadn’t even really lived.
I went through treatment quietly. No fanfare, no sympathy. I didn’t even tell my child until I was being wheeled into surgery. I didn’t want pity. I didn’t want fear spoken over me. I just knew, deep in my spirit, that this wasn’t the end — because there was still more I was meant to do.
I made a promise:
If I made it through this, I would stop playing small. I would show up fully.
And then… I didn’t.
I shrunk.
I stayed where I was — afraid to stretch, afraid of what it would mean for my marriage, my family, my identity. I played safe. And I’ve been shrinking ever since.
But I can’t do that anymore.
I won’t do that anymore.
I’m just as deserving of a rich, joyful, free life as anyone else.
And I know I’m not the only one who feels this way — like we were meant for more, but no one showed us the map.
For years, I researched. I watched the online business space grow — and the promises get louder.
“Start a quote page. Quit your job in 2 months. Travel the world in luxury.”
Really?
Everyone’s talking about the lifestyle, but no one’s talking about the money.
How does it actually work? Where does it come from?
And when they do talk about it — it costs $500 to get a course that still doesn’t tell you the truth.
So I decided to become the bridge I was looking for.
I’m building this platform — Stephanie Speaks, Rebrand Riches, Nurtured Nia — to create something real. Something sustainable. Something other women like me can use to build actual income, reclaim their time, and stop feeling invisible.
I want you to feel seen.
Safe.
Capable.
Relieved.
I want you to know you’re not crazy for feeling like there’s more to life than survival and sacrifice.
That it’s okay to move in silence.
That you don’t have to explain your boundaries.
That your results will speak for themselves.
My version of success?
Time freedom. Location freedom.
And waking up every day knowing that another woman out there feels just a little more powerful because of something I created.
This is why I’m doing this.
And if you’ve ever felt like it’s too late to start over… I hope this space reminds you that your next chapter can still be your best.
Let’s rise. Together.
